Wildlife Assessments
Columbia Environmental maintains a team of qualified professionals with expertise in wildlife and terrestrial habitat assessments. Our staff and associates have been involved in large scale development projects requiring the production of site specific detailed survey methods, species presence/absence field assessments, complication of potential habitat impacts, and finally the development of mitigation and compensation strategies that will reduce or eliminate the negative impacts on habitat and wildlife resources.
Our assessments have included surveys for birds, ungulates, bats, snakes, invasive and rare plants, invertebrates, and large-scale (1:5000) ecosystem habitat mapping. Based on the results of the overview assessments, ground truthing field surveys, and in consultation with stakeholders, Columbia has developed and presented a number of Best Management Practices (BMPs) and mitigation strategies that have been successfully used to move projects through the environmental review process.
